Social anxiety mediates the effect of attachment to parents on friendships and loneliness during the college transition

Abstract The main goal of this study was to investigate direct and indirect effects attachment parents on the formation friendships, satisfaction with friends, loneliness over transition college. Social anxiety gender were tested as a possible mediator moderator respectively. A total 210 college freshmen at large university in Spain participated baseline assessment six-month follow-up assessment. Results demonstrated ease forming through social anxiety, effect loneliness. Gender did not play moderating role. Taken together, these results suggest that programs support development healthy relationships across may be particularly beneficial for youth challenges familial relationships, screening identify those students who would benefit from support.
